What is Abhyanga?
Abhyanga (pronounced ah-bee-yung-ah) is a traditional Ayurvedic full-body massage using warm herbal oils tailored to your body type (or dosha). Unlike a typical massage that focuses on deep tissue or muscle work, Abhyanga is a more rhythmic, soothing, and nourishing experience. It’s about calming the nervous system, detoxifying the body, and creating balance — physically, mentally, and emotionally.
It’s often referred to in Ayurveda as a form of “snehana,” which means both “oil” and “love” — fitting, because this treatment truly feels like a warm, loving embrace for the whole body.
Why Abhyanga is Amazing (And So Loved by Our Clients)
Here’s why this gentle, grounding massage stands out from the rest:
Deep Relaxation and Nervous System Reset
The slow, synchronised strokes and warm oils have a calming effect on the entire body, reducing stress, anxiety, and overwhelm — ideal for our fast-paced modern lives.
Nourishes the Skin and Tissues
The oils used are rich in antioxidants and deeply moisturising, leaving your skin soft, supple, and glowing — with benefits that go far beyond the surface.
